True, Kevin. I spoke with my pastor while ago, and he said we do well to apply COMMON SENSE when seeking to obey Scriptural commands closely as possible. He said that since Scripture sez to obey the laws of man, and the officials who make/enforce them, since GOD allowed them to come to power, but we have every right to disagree with those we don't like and seek to have them removed from office by legal means, or, if a law, have it repealed...but in no case should we obey a law that's clearly sinful, such as recognizing a gay marriage or condoning abortions that have no medical necessity. he said that, while we might not like a given tax law, it's STEALING to dodge it illegally, but not sinful to find legal exemptions or seek to have it repealed.

And I find nothing wrong with a Christian's running for office nor accepting an appointment to a bureaucracy, long as one stix to his/her Christian ideals. As for myself, I fouind that I couldn't be an effective cop and a devout Christian. While some people can, I couldn't, and thus resigned as a cop. While I might help out the local police occasionally with detective work, I am not a member of any police force any more.
