You do realize that Corinth and Ephesus were the worst cities for that stuff right? So Paul was addressing those things all the time. Look what he says of the Corinthians:

1Co 6:9 (KJV) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.


He was addressing BELIEVERS. And also remember, they were also struggling with the issue of eating things offered to idols and Paul dealt with that too. No, the fact is, they were eating, getting drunk and not waiting for the other brethren to show up and leaving nothing for them to share in. Therefore they were NOT discerning the LORD'S body. In other words, not looking out for the rest of the family.

Did they end up messing up? Many did, but that is NOT what Paul was addressing in chapter 11.

Mr 9:38 (KJV) And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
